Our farm is located on one of the many hills in Goriška Brda, more precisely in the village of Višnjevik. The location is excellent as it offers an exceptional view of the surrounding hills, from Saint mountain and Sabotin, all the way to the sea between Monfalcone and Grado. At an altitude of 237m and with a favorable climate, the soil offers us everything that plants needs to produce excellent fruits. We grow several types of fruits, starting with early cherries, which we finish with vintage varieties Karnjevka and Tercinka, american blueberries, apricots, figs, native plums and persimmon. In 2016, we revived the tradition of beekeeping, which turned out to be a very good complement, as it is an excellent coexistence due to our own bees pollinating our fruit trees. In addition, the location of the apiary offers excellent pasture, which lies on the edge of the forest and thus offers the possibility for gathering honey on flowers, acacia, linden and chestnut trees.
The farm, which has been handed down from generation to generation, is currently being successfully farmed by the third generation. The beginnings were difficult, work was done mainly by hand and with the help of oxens. In those days, we were fairly self-sufficient, because in addition to vines and fruit, we also had livestock at home. With modernization, machinery came to the farm and the number of vines and fruit trees gradually increased, and animal husbandry was slowly abandoned. In the last decade, we started with the restoration of our land and specialized in fruit growing and in beekeeping. Father Aleksander is slowly handing over the management and work to his son Tomaž, who mainly takes care of the sale of products and beekeeping. Our advantage is that it is a family farm and we are able to give extra care to the quality of our products. Our products are based on growing food for ourselves and that’s what we offer to our customers.
